Is Morning Joe & Mika in love with the Energy Independence?
By: Alan Anderson
Anyone who watches Morning Joe on MSNBC knows that Joe and Mika and the cast of guests are probably the most watched early news by anyone who wants to be informed on what topics will be discussed that day. Best described as informative, smart and even witty can best portray the 3 hrs of viewing you will get when you tune into Morning Joe. Even folks like myself from the west coast wakeup early or tape them just to be on top of stories that will affect us throughout the day.
Their form of news covers everything from politics, business, scandal, sports and even news you can’t use. The type of news one would consider fair and balanced news unlike the channel that makes that claim. It also seems like Joe and Mika truly like what they do and enjoy doing it 15 hrs a week.
But I’ve watched over the years and have grown to know them as Pensacola Joe & Sugar free Mika. Joe we know being a Congressman from 1st District of Florida and Mika an accomplished news correspondent for many years has made Morning Joe what it is today.
Lately Joe and Mika have steered away from one policy of the government that seems odd to me. Since the shows inception, Energy Policy has seemed to slip from the headlines of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. However, I have seen Boone Pickens on a number of times to promote his Pickens Plan which has gotten held up in Congressional quick sand because of its controversial use of Hydraulic Fracking as its main method of new CNG extraction. We all agree that the U.S. needs to change the energy policy to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and that using American renewable energy is they way to become Energy Independent. So why is the Pickens Plan the only point of view aired on Morning Joe?
Joe, hasn’t the oil and gas industry done enough harm to your home state of Florida? Not to mention what BP has done the declining economy of the Pensacola coastline. Mika, now that you’re a farm owner from Pennsylvania, aren’t you worried that farm and forest resources will suffer from the harmful effects of “Frack Waste” spilled in beautiful lands of the Keystone state’s countryside?
America needs to know the facts about what our energy situation is and what we can do about it. The choices we have currently for the average American are slim. If you drive a car or truck here in America what are your choices? Gas or diesel? A small percentage of Americans who drive Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV) have the small choice of Ethanol or Methanol. Even fewer have electric or CNG powered cars and trucks. Not many know that more oil drilling won’t change anything when it comes to the price of gasoline or diesel other than increase profits for the Oil Industry selling here in America. The only true way to real change is increased FFV manufacturing and increase in renewable fuel options. This will take OPEC’s monopoly on oil resources and price controls and put it in the hands of Americans.
I hear the experts on Morning Joe talking all the time about getting out of the 3 wars that America is involved in overseas for the reasons of defense spending and sacrifice and if it is worth the blood we shed over there. Where is over there and why are we there? Well Joe and Mika the easy answer is OIL. We must first make the change here, we have to stop worrying about what they have and focus on what we have here. What we have here is the greatest country in the world and we have the greatest resources in the world, the American people. Here is what Wikipedia says about the U.S.:
At 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km2) and with over 310 million people, the United States is the third or fourth largest country by total area, and the third largest both by land area and population. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries. The U.S. economy is the world's largest national economy, with an estimated 2010 GDP of $14.780 trillion.
So look at what we got, 3.79 million sq miles of area to work with. Almost 3/4 of those 3.79 million sq miles is farmland, pastures, wooded land, unused desert and fertile ground. So with solar, wind, renewable fuel made from non-food crops, algae and cellulosic fuel we can make Energy Independence a reality in the near future by some real smart Energy Policy that puts the American people first before it puts campaign donors from industries like Oil and other fossil fuel companies.
Here’s one I know Mika will love. The sugar industry that Mika blames for obesity throughout America is the same industry that has redirected its priorities to helping make ethanol a cleaner more cost effective fuel to compete with the world’s largest sugar ethanol producer, Brazil. So you see Joe and Mika there is more to Energy than just the Pickens Plan.
So if sponsors like the API that run two commercials every commercial break on MSNBC won’t allow you to talk about renewable fuel, then maybe you should start looking for better sponsors than the ones that pollute the ocean and beaches around Pensacola and the forest and farmlands of America.
Please Joe and Mika support renewable fuels and smart energy policy for America. Ethanol, bio diesel, advanced fuel technology from sugar, Flex Fuel Vehicles with an increase of wind and solar technologies are the way we grow America out of our depression and put people back to work. This will also help bring home American soldiers from protecting Oil interests from around the world.
America deserves better Energy than what we got today and I know that Morning Joe is one place that America turns to when they want to hear smart people talk about smart policy.
