Who will be the first Automaker to go pure ethanol in America?
By: Alan Anderson
Here we are in June of 2012 and we still haven’t had one U.S Automaker step forward to tell the Oil industry that they are ready to do for America what they are already doing across the world. All U.S auto manufactures make vehicles that are optimized to run fuels other than gasoline in countries like Brazil, Europe and many more. But they just don’t seem to have the backbone to tell the oil industry that they are moving the same technology back here to the U.S. Maybe it’s time for Toyota, Hyundai or Kia who also make these cars and trucks that run optimized for ethanol to make a stand right here in the Ethanol capitol of the world the great US of A.
As we all saw in the WI. Election yesterday, Big Oil has more money to influence politicians and elections then they have Pride for America. What other industry in this country fights to invade countries for oil resources and then tells the military they can’t start using greener energy to decrease their dependency on foreign oil? That’s Big Oil for you, it’s like our government is in place to fight for them and not the good of the American people. It seems that 50 percent of America wants change to what fuels our vehicles in the U.S., 25 percent thinks oil is good for America and the other 25 percent believes the President is a Muslim and wasn’t born in America so if he’s for ethanol than it must be bad.
I know that Growth Energy, ACE and other pro-ethanol orgs have been fighting for a better bigger piece of the pie in the fuel sector but don’t we think it’s time we step up our game. Heck look at NASCAR, they run E15 in the race cars now. E15? What the heck is that doing for consumers! Want to made a difference run E100 or at least E85. They are race cars for god sake. When consumers see on a day to day basis that this is the new paradigm then things begin to have demand in the market. Auto manufacturers will react to increase demand if it is from consumers. Remember, what wins on Sunday sells on Monday. It is way past time, now is the time we shake things up allot.
I noticed in this month’s issue of EPM (Ethanol Producers Magazine) that Josh & Rebecca Tickell were featured. It is people like this that we need to be helping to get our word out. It was Josh who first turned me from being oil consumer to thinking about alternatives and started researching for a better way. So here I am 2 years later and I can’t stop yelling about ethanol. Now some of us have corn ethanol we promote and some of us like me promote Energy Beet ethanol and some more of us other forms. But we all need to come together to combine our fuels to one objective and that is to make oil and gasoline a fuel like its origins “extinct”, a thing of the past.
Like Josh and Rebecca, we need to get the word out, but we need to do it bigger and better than we are right now. Maybe Hollywood and NASCAR can stand up and help with the BIG Push. Although I haven’t seen Josh’s latest movie yet I hear that it is an Ethanol Blockbuster. I’m sure with a bit of well placed funding we can get this movie out to America in schools and maybe even some well placed regional mailings that would have instant maximum impact on changing hearts and minds of consumers.
We still can’t forget the Automakers. Maybe a consumer demand blitz will be the start to a new revolution in the biofuels industry. Well that gives you all something to think about for awhile.
